About Rob Prior

From the moment Rob Prior was born, he was destined to be an artist. Not only was he internationally published by the age of 15, Rob also taught himself how to create art with both hands, or even do math homework while he painted.

Now, he's a leader in the pop culture art world, comic book artist for Marvel (and more), a sculptor, now is post production on his first movie, and a creator having sold numerous TV pitches to major networks. Later this year, he’s opening a gallery show, the  Stan Lee legacy collection, featuring Stan lee as a character in his iconic comic cook covers as a way to commemorate the late icon.

Prior’s family began training him for greatness when most kids are still coloring, and by the time toddlers are learning their shapes and  how to stay in the lines, Rob was going on to painting with oil and using artists’ charcoal.

When he was 10, Rob decided that he needed to learn how to be an artist with both hands in case something ever happened to his natural dominant right hand.

“For the next couple years I refused to use my right hand as my dominant hand,” Prior said in his interview. “So, I switched playing guitar, I switched throwing a football, throwing a baseball, I switched it all.”

As a comic book artist, Rob has worked with Marvel, D.C., the original art for the movie poster for Star Wars - The Force Awakens, Fine art for merchandising for Game of Thrones, Todd McFarlane, Steven Spielberg, Kevin Eastman, and Image Comics, to name a few, with his most notable credits on Ironman, Captain America, Spawn, Terminator, Deep Space 9, Evil Ernie, Melting Pot, Lady Death, and Heavy Metal.

As a leading storyboard artist, Prior has provided storyboards for advertising campaigns such as Budweiser and Nikon, as well as for the gaming industry, for Titlist, 2K Games, Terminator 3 and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He also created all the storyboards and animatics for the video games Ghost Rider and The Darkness.

As an illustrator, Prior has supplied cover art and interior art material for Steve Jackson Games, TSR (Dungeons and Dragons), Wizards of the Coast, Battle of the Lords of the 23rd Century, and many others.

Prior has directed short films and music videos in which he has storyboarded, production designed/art directed and did all practical effects for each and is in post production for Painted Beauty. Prior is also the VP of creative for Heavy Metal.
